Arkansas Department of Emergency Management spokesman Brandon Morris said earlier Friday that oil reached nearby Lake Conway, but he later said that information was incorrect. Oil spilled onto the road and lawns, but it’s not clear exactly how much. ExxonMobil says it’s working with emergency responders and local authorities to respond to the oil spill. MAYFLOWER, Ark. – Authorities are working to clean up an oil spill in central Arkansas after a crude oil pipeline ruptured.
Mayflower Police Chief Robert Satkowski said an ExxonMobil pipeline sprung a leak Friday afternoon in the small city about 20 miles northwest of Little Rock.
Satkowski says the pipeline has since been shut off.
The spill forced authorities to evacuate dozens of homes Friday.
