The legitimate questions to ask at this point in time  would  be …….

Exactly  what money  would  the low and  middle-income  earners  be  putting aside for  savings?

Considering the  unemployment  rate  and the  rising  number of the homeless how realistic or  honest  would this  proposal  be?

In a  world where the  working  middle class are disappearing and the poor can barely feed themselves and their  families , are retirement  savings accounts truly an achievable reality?

The U.S. Middle Class Is Turning Proletarian

drill-press.jpg

The biggest issue facing the American economy, and our political system, is the gradual descent of the middle class into proletarian status. This process, which has been going on intermittently since the 1970s, has worsened considerably over the past five years, and threatens to turn this century into one marked by downward mobility.

The decline has less to do with the power of the “one percent” per se than with the drying up of opportunity amid what is seen on Wall Street and in the White House as a sustained recovery. Despite President Obama’s rhetorical devotion to reducing inequality, it has widened significantly under his watch. Not only did the income of the middle 60% of households drop between 2010 and 2012 while that of the top 20% rose, the income of the middle 60% declined by a greater percentage than the poorest quintile. The middle 60% of earners’ share of the national pie has fallen from 53% in 1970 to 45% in 2012.

This group, what I call the yeoman class — the small business owners, the suburban homeowners , the family farmers or skilled construction tradespeople– is increasingly endangered. Once the dominant class in America, it is clearly shrinking: In the four decades since 1971 the percentage of Americans earning between two-thirds and twice the national median income has dropped from 61% to 51% of the population, according to Pew.

Roughly one in three people born into middle class-households , those between the 30th and 70th percentiles of income, now fall out of that status as adults.

Neither party has a reasonable program to halt the decline of the middle class. Previous generations of liberals — say Walter Reuther, Hubert Humphrey, Harry Truman, Pat Brown — recognized broad-based economic growth was a necessary precursor to upward mobility and social justice. However, many in the new wave of progressives engage in fantastical economics built around such things as “urban density” and “green jobs,”  while adopting policies that restrict growth in manufacturing, energy and housing. When all else fails, some, like Oregon’s John Kitzhaber, try to change the topic by advocating shifting emphasis from measures of economic growth to “happiness.”

Obama plan: Cut tax breaks for richest retirement savers

Plan designed to spur saving by low-, middle-income earners

By Robert Powell, MarketWatch

President Barack Obama plans to ask Congress in early March, as part of his fiscal 2015 budget, to reduce some of the tax advantages for employer-sponsored retirement plans for higher-income earners, according to published reports.

Plus, the president wants to limit the value of all tax deductions, defined contribution exclusions and IRA deductions to 28% of income — and include an overall cap on all retirement accounts, including pensions, that could bring in $1 billion a year in new tax revenue, according to a Pensions & Investments report. Read Companies bracing for 1-2 retirement punch .

According to the report, the proposals are designed to direct more of the tax preference for retirement savings toward getting more low- and middle-income people into the habit of saving.

Based on current tax brackets, Pensions & Investments reported that the 28% limit would reduce the tax advantages of retirement savings for people earning more than $183,000 or couples earning more than $225,000. And the overall cap for all tax-preferred retirement accounts would limit them to providing an annual retirement income of $205,000, which would currently cap tax-preferred accounts at $3.4 million, but could go lower as interest rates rise.

So, who might feel the effects of this proposal? Largely, the top 5% of tax payers. According to the Tax Policy Center, a partnership between the Urban Institute and Brookings Institution, there are about 6.07 million Americans who earned above $200,000 in 2011 and they make up the top 4.2% of taxpayers, according to published reports. Read more about the president’s tax proposal here: Who makes more than $250k, and are they rich?

And what do experts have to say about what the president might propose? In the main, they say the rich need not worry that their tax breaks for saving for retirement will be cut.

“We’ve heard these kinds of proposals being discussed in policy circles for a couple of years now,” said Skip Schweiss, president of TD Ameritrade Trust Co. and managing director of TD Ameritrade Institutional. “It would not surprise me to see these ideas become more formalized through President Obama’s 2015 budget proposal.”

But even though experts expect the president to propose reductions to some of the tax advantages for employer-sponsored retirement plans for higher-income earners, few expect any congressional action. “Given the congressional divide, it’s hard to see something like this becoming law, but of course one never knows,” said Schweiss.

Will the ‘myRA’ retirement plan take off?

January 28, 2014, 9:52 PM

In his State of the Union address tonight, President Obama announced that he would introduce a new kind of retirement-savings plan for workers who don’t have access to such plans through their jobs. “While the stock market has doubled over the last five years, that doesn’t help folks who don’t have 401(k)s,” the president said. But how much of an impact will his proposal have for middle- and lower-income savers?

Reuters

Introducing ‘myRA’ to Congress and America.

The plan, which Obama dubbed the “myRA” (rhymes with the initials “IRA”), is designed to create “starter accounts” that would help novice investors avoid some common pitfalls of retirement savings. In briefing materials accompanying the State of the Union address, the administration noted that many private-sector providers don’t allow “smaller balance savers” to open accounts; providers who do allow such accounts often charge fees that can eat up a proportionately high percentage of their balances.

In his address, Obama described the myRA as “a new savings bond” that “guarantees a decent return with no risk of losing what you put in.” That wording brings to mind efforts by the Treasury Department to create “R bonds,” a special kind of interest-paying Treasury bond aimed at retirement savers; details of how such a bond would work haven’t been released yet.

In The Wall Street Journal this evening, Damian Paletta and Anne Tergesen report that the administration “is expected to encourage employers to offer the investment vehicles to employees who would be automatically enrolled unless they specifically elected not to participate.”

Obama Introduces MyRA: The “No Risk, Guaranteed Return” Retirement Savings Bond

Earlier today we hinted at what was coming in “Obama To Unveil Treasury IRAs.” Well, here it is, and it even has a catchy name. Presenting: the MyRA, and since it offers “guaranteed return and no risk” we now know where all the Fed’s bond trades will go to work once QE ends.

From the president:

Let’s do more to help Americans save for retirement. Today, most workers don’t have a pension. A Social Security check often isn’t enough on its own. And while the stock market has doubled over the last five years, that doesn’t help folks who don’t have 401ks. That’s why, tomorrow, I will direct the Treasury to create a new way for working Americans to start their own retirement savings: MyRA. It’s a new savings bond that encourages folks to build a nest egg. MyRA guarantees a decent return with no risk of losing whatyou put in ……..

Can Obama’s ‘MyRA’ Lure Workers Who Don’t Save for Retirement?

January 29, 2014

President Obama picked a good venue to boost the “MyRA” retirement savings accounts he touted in last night’s State of the Union address. He spoke at a U.S. Steel plant in Pennsylvania, a state where the public pension system has a $47 billion shortfall and where workers would be right to worry about running out of money as they age.

Defined-benefit plans are disappearing—they covered 35 percent of Americans in the early 1990s and only 18 percent in 2011—and defined-contribution plans such as IRAs and 401(k)s haven’t made up the difference. Too few American workers have such accounts, and most of the ones who do don’t save enough. A survey last year by the Employee Benefits Research Institute found that only 13 percent of respondents are “very confident” they will be able to live comfortably in retirement.

That dismal picture helps explain the intense interest in MyRA since Obama introduced the idea last night. “It’s a new savings bond that encourages folks to build a nest egg,” Obama said. “MyRA guarantees a decent return with no risk of losing what you put in.” Administration officials fleshed out a few of the details for reporters:

Patel has been reinstated, but is facing disciplinary action.  Islamic finance forbids the payment and receipt of interest (riba), and investment in some industries. Sharia law states that interest-bearing transactions result in economic ills such as unemployment and high inflation. Trading in derivatives and speculative investment are also forbidden. Sharia law requires all transactions to be backed by tangible assets.

█▓▒░   End of list as of 3/12/12  ░▒▓█
Addendum:
It is not known under what circumstances these individuals have left their positions, I make no judgement on that. I find the timing of so many resignations extremely curious and a temporal marker in history of high significance. No one should assume I make any judgement about the character of these people. I frankly don’t know their reputations except for a few rather famous ones.

This list includes Banks, Investment Houses, Sovereign Wealth Funds, Equity Funds, Savings Retirement Funds and other shadow banking organizations. The line is very blurry between these entities, some are owned by banks some are banks, some invest in banks as well as owning entire industries (common in Hong Kong and Japan).

Goldman Banker Quits In Disgust, Blasts Firm For “Ripping Off” Clients

Another PR disaster is unfolding for Goldman Sachs (GS), the Wall Street investment bank that has already borne the brunt of popular wrath in the aftermath of the financial crisis.

A senior executive at the firm, Greg Smith, quit today in spectacular fashion, announcing his resignation in a scathing New York Times editorial in which he accused the firm of gleefully “ripping off” its clients and succumbing to short-term greed.

Within today’s Goldman Sachs, Smith says, senior bankers often refer to the firm’s clients as “muppets.”

Thornburg Mortgage Inc. Executives Charged By SEC For Civil Accounting Fraud

WASHINGTON — Federal regulators have charged three executives of what was once the nation’s second-largest mortgage company with civil accounting fraud.

The Securities and Exchange Commission said the executives conspired to conceal disastrous conditions at the now-defunct Thornburg Mortgage Inc. as the housing market collapsed and the financial crisis loomed.

The congressman, who has represented diverse communities in Queens and part of Long Island, said in a statement Thursday that although new congressional boundaries were extremely favorable he would not seek another term.

“Ackerman, whose term in office is set to end Jan. 2, joins 23 other Democrats and 16 Republicans not seeking re-election.”

TSUMAMI OF RESIGNATIONS CONTAINED WITH IN K8 FILINGS ON EDGAR DATABASE

Posted by LordOfArcadia at: http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread818860/pg1

Gab1159 has done a remarkable job of providing information regarding, what appears on the surface, to be a mass wave of resignations from the financial sector.

Massive Wave of Resignation (Part V): The New Bandwagon!

I urge you to read his work before preceding further in this thread.

If true, a huge exodus of the top brass from the financial sector would mean…. well, I am not sure, but it sure seems important. Upon reading his work, there was always the nagging thought in the back of my mind that, “Maybe there aren’t more resignations, it just seems that way because either (a) the media are reporting on them more frequently or (b) we are just paying more attention.” This thought has been raised in each of his updates, but nobody seemed to be able to quantify what is a reasonable number of resignations.

In the most recent update, I posted a comment, wherein I used the EBSCOhost Business Premier database to search for articles that contained the world “Resign”. You can see my chart in Gab1159’s thread, but saying that the results were inconclusive is being generous.

Then I had an idea. The Securities Exchange Act of 1934 requires that publicly traded companies must report to the SEC whenever a member of the Board or certain officers resign. Also, the SEC has a database named EDGAR that is open to the public. After a little research, I discovered that corporations must report said resignations on Form 8-K, Item 5.02. From there, it was a simple matter of searching only Form 8-Ks within a specific range of dates, and including the boolean search terms “Resigns” and “Resignation”.

I felt this would at least offer us a baseline comparison to see if there is truly an uptick in resignations, or if it just appears that way. I think you will be interested in the results.

A few details I should point out. One, these results are not broken down by industrial sector, but encompass all “SICs” or Standard Industrial Classifications. Also, when dealing with such a large number of results, EDGAR gives an approximation on the number of filings. For example, in 2Q 2008 there may have been 1786 filings, but it gives me 1800 as the approximate result.

I must admit, when I started compiling the data, I did not believe I would find much. Possibly a slight upswing in the number of resignations, but I am simply blown away by the results.

Italian Police Arrest 16 Judges, Sieze $1.3 Billion in Mafia Bust

By Oliver Tree

March 19, 2012

http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/316359/20120319/italy-mafia-arrests-camorra-judges.htm

Police in Naples, Italy have arrested 16 judges and seized assets worth over €1 billion ($1.3 billion) in a huge anti-mafia bust exposing the extent of organized crime’s penetration into Italian big business and the state.

The judges were among 47 people arrested under operation Bad Metal, which included the seizure of buildings, cars and property.

The arrests were part of a crackdown on the Fabroccino clan, who are believed to have bribed judges in order to obtain favorable court judgments.

BBC chief quits: Director general Mark Thompson will step down in the Autumn

  • Mr Thompson announced the decision in an email to staff today
  • He told them the corporation is stronger than the BBC he inherited in 2004
  • BBC Trust chairman Lord Patten says Mr Thompson has been an ‘outstanding’ director general

By Anthony Bond

BBC director general Mark Thompson is to step down from the role this autumn.

Mr Thompson announced the move in an email to staff at the corporation today after a meeting with BBC Trust chairman Lord Patten.

He said: ‘This morning I told Lord Patten that I believe that an appropriate time for me to hand over to a successor and to step down as director general of the BBC would be the autumn of this year, once the Olympics and the rest of the amazing summer of 2012 are over.’

Worldwide Banking Resignations Triple According to Revised Numbers: Why Now?

http://www.activistpost.com/2012/03/worldwide-banking-resignations-triple.html

………….I included this chart, along with some commentary, in my article “Why Are Bankers Jumping Ship In Record Numbers, Financial Collapse Imminent?” Please see this article in order to understand the specifics of the statistics presented by American Kabuki’s research. Or, view American Kabuki’s own presentation here

However, chart or no chart, the recently revised number regarding resignations from financial firms, banks, etc. seems to put many of the questions to rest.

Indeed, a recent post by American Kabukinow shows that the number of resignations stand at 358, almost triple the number originally posted. The revised list of resignations will be included at the end of this article along with the links to the announcements. With all of this in mind, and, if the research provided by American Kabuki is correct, then the only question really left for us to ask is “Why?”Why are so many bankers, CEOs, fund managers, and investors resigning all at once? Why now?

One might be tempted to ask whether or not there is a coming investigation that these individuals are trying to avoid but, given the track record of the regulatory system, this is not our most likely option. Considering the current state of the economy, it might seem more logical to ask if these individuals are not trying to abandon ship before the collapse of the world financial system finally takes place.

Or it could be something entirely different. At this point, we simply do not know. Regardless, something big is obviously happening in the financial world and the forces behind it are acting on information that the general public is unaware of.

Deutsche Bank Financial-Institutions Banker Hammes Said to Leave

Wolfgang Hammes, the co-head of European financial-institution investment banking at Deutsche Bank AG (DBK), has left Germany’s biggest lender, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

Hammes, who was hired from Merrill Lynch & Co. in 2005, left for personal reasons, the people said, declining to be identified because the details are private. A press officer for Deutsche Bank declined to comment, and Hammes couldn’t be reached.

Financier Allen Stanford loses bid for new trial

By Jonathan Stempel

(Reuters) – The financier Allen Stanford on Thursday lost his bid for a new trial, 16 days after being convicted for running an estimated $7 billion Ponzi scheme.

District Judge David Hittner in Houston turned down Stanford’s request for a new trial in a brief order, without explaining his reasons.

Stanford, who turns 62 on Saturday, was convicted on March 6 by a Houston federal jury on 13 of 14 counts related to what prosecutors called the sale of bogus certificates of deposit from his Antigua-based Stanford International Bank Ltd.

The decision came one day after Stanford’s lawyers said their client had been deprived of his Sixth Amendment right to a fair trial.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn charged in French prostitution case

Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn faced preliminary charges Monday of aggravated pimping, or illegal procurement of prostitutes, in France.

Strauss-Kahn was summoned for eight hours of questioning Monday by French judges investigating an illegal prostitution ring operating out of the northern French city of Lille. The former IMF chief was notified that he was being placed under formal investigation, but allowed to leave after paying 100,000 Euros in bail, and agreeing not to talk to others being investigated in the case, or travel without consulting a judge, the Associated Press reported.

French prosecutors in Lille have been investigating an illegal prostitution ring that is alleged to have brought prostitutes from Belgium to luxury hotels in France and to parties in Washington, D.C., and New York attended by VIP clients, France’s Radio France International reported in October. Eight people have been charged in the case so far, including a police officer in Lille and three directors with the city’s Carlton Hotel, the New York Times reported………

MF Global exec tied to money transfers clams up

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – An MF Global executive, who has emerged as a central figure in the desperate shifting of funds before the brokerage’s collapse, refused to answer questions on Wednesday, frustrating lawmakers probing why more than $1 billion in customer money is missing.

Assistant Treasurer Edith O’Brien and other mid-level MF Global (MFGLQ.PK) executives, people who had operational control over money transfers at the brokerage, were called to testify before the investigations panel of the House Financial Services Committee.

O’Brien, a demure-appearing brunette dressed in a somber black dress suit, was excused after refusing to answer questions. The others remained to take scathing questions from the lawmakers who likened the missing customer funds to a grand heist.

The executives were unable to say why the money is missing, and who was responsible for it, keeping open the mystery nearly five months after MF Global filed for bankruptcy and former Chief Executive Jon Corzine resigned from the firm…..

Faulty generator blamed for fatal poisoning of wealthy banker and his wife in remote Estonian forest

  • 55-year-old worked as analyst at shady Moscow investment firm

By Matt Blake

A wealthy British banker and his wife died of carbon monoxide poisoning in a ‘tragic accident’ at their holiday home in Estonia, an inquest has heard.

Philip Townsend, 55, worked for a mysterious Moscow investment company, where he was an analyst in the lucrative but murky Russian telecoms industry.

But he and his wife MaryAnne, 52, were found dead at the converted barn near the town of Valga on February 24.

They are believed to have been killed by fumes from a faulty generator.

Police at the time said they couldn’t work out if the deaths were suspicious or not.

Soros Loses Case Against French Insider-Trading Conviction

Billionaire investor George Soros lost a challenge to his 2002 insider trading conviction, with the European Court of Human Rights saying French market regulations were clear enough to hold him responsible.

France didn’t violate Soros’s rights in punishing him criminally for trading on inside information about Societe Generale SA in spite of the market regulator’s conclusion that its rules were unclear, the Strasbourg, France-based court said.

“Soros was a famous institutional investor, well-known to the business community and a participant in major financial projects,” the court said in a statement about its ruling. “As a result of his status and experience, he could not have been unaware that his decision to invest” risked violating insider- trading laws, and given “there had been no comparable precedent, he should have been particularly prudent.”

Soros, 81, was convicted in 2002 of insider trading and ordered to repay 2.2 million euros ($2.9 million) he’d made from the share purchase and subsequent sale after a Paris court found he’d acted with the knowledge that the bank might be a takeover target. While prosecutors filed criminal charges, French stock market regulators didn’t pursue Soros, saying insider-trading laws were too vague to determine whether he’d broken them…..

Soros Criminal Conviction Exposes “Human Rights” Scam

Soros leverages “human rights” for personal gain – as does his global NGO empire.

Tony Cartalucci, Contributor
Activist Post

Bloomberg’s report, “Soros Loses Case Against French Insider-Trading Conviction,” indicates that an appeal based on a “human rights” violation against Wall Street speculator George Soros has been rejected by the “European Court of Human Rights.” Soros, who was convicted and fined for insider trading in 2002 regarding French bank Société Générale shares he bought in 1988, has built an empire out of obfuscating global criminal activity with the cause of “human rights.”
The court’s decision in rejecting the appeal was based on Soros being “a famous institutional investor, well-known to the business community and a participant in major financial projects,” and thus should have been “particularly prudent” regarding insider-trading laws. The contents of Soros’ appeal, based on “human rights” was not heard, and the details of the appeal not yet made public, however, it is an illustrative example of how Soros and global elitists like him leverage the legitimate cause of human rights and freedom as a means to execute and defend both individual and institutional criminal behavior……

Rebekah Brooks and her husband among six arrested over phone hacking ‘cover-up’

Rebekah Brooks and her racehorse trainer husband Charlie were arrested in dawn raids yesterday by police investigating allegations of a cover-up in the phone hacking inquiry.

The former News International chief executive and her husband – both close friends of David Cameron – were held on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

They were among six people detained by detectives from Operation Weeting, the inquiry into illegal hacking of voicemail messages.

The items were handed to police by a security guard after Mr Brooks is understood to have tried to reclaim them but could not prove the property belonged to him.

At the time Mr Brooks’s spokesman denied the bag belonged to Mrs Brooks, saying: ‘Charlie has a bag which contains a laptop and papers which were private to him.’

Four other men, aged between 39 and 48, were arrested in the series of raids in Hampshire, West London, Hertfordshire and East London.

Sun Hung Kai Loses $4.9 Billion as Kwoks Arrested

Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd. (16) plunged the most in 14 years and lost $4.9 billion of market value after anti-graft investigators arrested the billionaire brothers who run Hong Kong’s biggest developer.

Co-chairmen Thomas and Raymond Kwok were detained by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, Sun Hung Kai said late yesterday. Rafael Hui, a former No. 2 official in the government, was also arrested, according to a person with knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified because of the ongoing probe.

The arrests mark one of the highest-level investigations in the ICAC’s 38-year history and come four days after a Hong Kong leadership election in which close ties between government and business emerged as a key campaign theme. Current Chief Executive Donald Tsang is being probed separately by the ICAC for accepting trips on the yachts and planes of tycoons.

Foxconn Auditor Finds ‘Serious’ Violations of Chinese Law

An audit of Foxconn Technology Group (2354) found “serious and pressing” violations of Chinese labor laws, prompting the biggest maker of Apple Inc. (AAPL) devices to pledge to cut working hours and give employees more oversight.

Inspectors found at least 50 breaches of Chinese regulations as well as the code of conduct Apple signed when it joined the Fair Labor Association in January after deaths of workers at suppliers, the monitoring group said today. Foxconn will bring hours in line with legal limits by July 2013 and compensate its more than 1.2 million employees for overtime lost due to the shorter work week, it said.

“The eyes of the world are on them and there’s just no way they can’t deliver,” FLA President Auret van Heerden said. “It’s a real showstopper.”

Assessors found cases of employees working longer hours and more days in a row than allowed by FLA standards and Chinese law. They uncovered inconsistent health and safety policies and instances of unfair pay for overtime work. To meet its commitments, Foxconn must hire, train and house tens of thousands of workers to assemble products for Apple, Dell Inc. (DELL), Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) and other customers, the FLA said.

Another  Financial Death

Mark Lane of Lazard Dies at 44 in Turks and Caicos Boat Mishap

Mark Lane, a managing director at Lazard Capital Markets LLC who recently returned to work after a 3 1/2-year hiatus to help raise four young sons, has died after being hit by a boat in Turks and Caicos Islands. He was 44.

Lane was on a family vacation when he was struck by a motor boat March 24 while swimming off Grace Bay beach on Providenciales, said Paul Baker, a spokesman for the Royal Turks and Caicos Police. He was snorkeling, his wife, Lisa Craig, said yesterday in an interview. After the collision, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. local time, he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. The incident is under police investigation.

Since joining New York-based Lazard as head of fixed-income trading in November, Lane was helping to expand the business’s relationship with Lazard Ltd. (LAZ), the world’s largest independent merger adviser. He had been working on Wall Street for almost two decades, and ran debt trading desks at firms including Merrill Lynch & Co., Deutsche Bank AG and UBS AG in New York and London.

European bloodlines face end-time vortex of exposure

Europe’s royal élites are fragmenting over their Nazi-continuum connections with the Committee of 300

On Monday 20th February 2012, confirmatory intelligence emerged from Japan (here) that, below the surface, a widening rift in geopolitical loyalties is developing between the older and younger members of the British Royal Family bloodlines. This rift is understood to be developing and extending through most of the European Illuminati hereditary control-structures, not just in the UK, but also in countries such as The Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.

What is being referred to as the Gnostic Illuminati powergroup has issued a 31st March 2012 deadline to the Western banking cartel’s Committee of 300, to cease and desist in its Nazi-continuum (Odessa Group) agenda of financial theft and international exploitation.

The Committee of 300 agenda is being implemented through artificially constructed financial instruments and money laundries, and through wars, invasions and state-sponsored terrorist atrocities such as the post-WW2 conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, and the false-flag attacks of 911….
