By Scott Morefield,
(NaturalNews) On March 26, 2012, Pepsi introduced their latest in a long line of soft-drinks aimed at the health-conscious consumer. According to their press release, Pepsi Next is aimed at, “a segment of consumers who are resistant to both regular, full-sugar cola and diet cola offerings. The launch of Pepsi NEXT is intended to fulfill this unmet need in the category.” They say Pepsi…

The deadly poison lurking in your car’s air bags

By Tony Isaacs,
(NaturalNews) Automobile airbags, which have been mandatory in the United States and other countries for almost two decades, have long been touted as life savers. What hasn’t been widely told is that every air bag in every vehicle is a potential death trap and a growing danger to the environment due to a chemical compound used to inflate airbags which is every bit as toxic as sodium cyanide. That deadly compound is sodium azide. Sodium azide (NaN3) is a highly volatile and highly poisonous compound…

The food industry is waging war on your cells with these 10 toxic ingredients

By S. D. Wells,
(NaturalNews) Preservatives and synthetic food agents found in foods inhibit oxygen and delay the development of fungus and mold, creating a longer shelf-life for products. But after being consumed, these toxins deprive human cells of oxygen and rob them of nutrients, thus leading to cell mutation and the perfect breeding ground for cancer. Just like humans, cells need oxygen to survive and thrive. “Fungus fighting” preservatives and man-made food agents choke out your body’s nutrients at the…

Green tea extract coupled with quercetin kills cancer tumor cells

By John Phillip,
(NaturalNews) Green tea catechins such as EGCG have effectively been shown to increase metabolism as an aid to weight loss and have demonstrated a long history as a potent tool to fight many different types of cancer. Compounds in green tea act as powerful antioxidants that can promote apoptosis or programmed cell death, a mechanism missing in cancer cells that permits uncontrolled cell growth. Researchers from Rutgers University have published the result of a study in the journal Food and Function…

Forget Lipitor and other statin drugs – The top 7 natural remedies to reduce cholesterol levels

By JB Bardot, April 23 2012
(NaturalNews) Cholesterol is a natural byproduct of the liver and a necessary component of good health. Normal cholesterol is essential for cellular repair and development. It plays a critical role in the improvement of memory and learning, is the precursor to vitamin D production, and synthesizes sex hormones and natural steroids — which control blood sugar, fluid balance and blood pressure. It helps to convert fats in the liver, and is a potent antioxidant acting to scavenge free radicals and…

Cannabinoid receptors give cells the tools they need to defend against HIV infection

By Raw Michelle, April 24 2012
(NaturalNews) Researchers have reported that when healthy cells were placed in a sample dish with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), along with a dose of cannabinoids, the cells, which normally would rather quickly become infected, simply denied entry to the virus, and responded as if it were not a threat at all. Not a replacement for an immune system, but an extra set of hands keeping the wall upThe cannabinoids themselves don’t act anti-virally. They are not responsible for killing the…

How Fish Sense and ‘Feel’

Sense Organs in Fishes

Much like humans or any other animals, fishes need to know what’s going on around them in order to navigate, feed, communicate, and deal with aggression — either on the attack or in defense.

However, living in water is very different from living on land. Light doesn’t travel far before it is dispersed, especially if the water is particularly cloudy or dirty, while sound travels farther and faster under the surface, as waves of pressure.

Smell and taste are particularly important for water-dwellers since most substances, including food, dissolve in water and tiny particles are dispersed, which trigger appropriate reactions when detected. Some fish also have an extra sense called “electroreception,” which works because their environment is an electrolytic solution – in other words, it conducts electricity.

Fish Food: How to Properly Feed Your Underwater Pet

What type of food should you feed your fish? How much food does it need daily? We answer these and other common questions about the nutritional needs of a fish.

The amount of food you give your fish is important. That said, do not overfeed the animal. You have probably heard this before and it is true. While overfeeding won’t make your fish explode, it will contaminate the water, making the tank an unpleasant place to live. In addition, an excessive amount of food particles in the tank can clog the filters, which also causes the water to become toxic.

So how much food is too much?

It depends on the type, size, and breed of your fish. Try sprinkling a small amount of food in the fish’s tank and watch. Your fish should eat its fill in about five minutes. Experiment and take notes until you find appropriate amount for your fish. However, it is better to err on the side of caution — at least at first — and feed the fish too little rather than too much.

Rescue Stories

Bella Bug and Penny Bunny

Bella Bug and Penny Bunny

I adopted Penny (left) in November of 2009. She was the last kitten left after a Petsmart adoption event. I didn’t plan on adopting that day but I couldn’t resist. I couldn’t believe no one had adopted her yet. She was so cute! I adopted Bella (right) in September of 2010. My mom found her on Petfinder. She was at a rescue group an hour and a half away but I didn’t care. I had to meet the little girl with such a sweet face. We made the trip to see her and I immediately signed the adoption papers. They are lucky to have found each other and I’m lucky to have them. They make me smile and laugh every day. Rescue pets are the best so please always adopt!

Farmageddon: Exposing Coordinated Mafia Attacks on Farming Communities

Published on Apr 20, 2012 by

Alex talks with first-time filmmaker Kristin Canty on today’s broadcast. Canty is the director and producer of Farmageddon: The Unseen War On American Family Farms, a documentary available at the Infowars Store. Canty’s quest to find healthy food for her four children turned into an educational journey to discover why access to these foods was being threatened. What she found were policies that favor agribusiness and factory farms over small family-operated farms selling fresh foods to their communities. Alex also talks with Linda Faillace, author of Mad Sheep: The True Story Behind the USDA’s War on a Family Farm. The book documents one family’s struggle against a bullying and corrupt government agency that long ago abandoned the family farmer to serve the needs of corporate agriculture and the industrialization of our food supply. Faillace appears in Canty’s Farmageddon.
